Unable to connect to LINUXZOO.NET

Post by gopinathlinuxzoo » Thu Apr 08, 2010 1:52 pm

Hey Russel,

We are facing issue in connecting to linuxzoo.net from our end. The error message says that the remote computer refused the connection. Is there any firewall settings that restricts our access?

We are group of peoples who are desperately trying for this and it will be great if you can get this resolved.

Thanks in advance!!!!

linuxzoo.net refused what type of connection?
Do you mean you cannot see the http web pages?

There are no firewall rules which prevent access to the normal resources of linuxzoo.
If you supply me with what is blocked, when you tried it, and your IP number, I can check the logs...

Try simple things first. I assume you can still see the web pages, but cannot telnet.
Make sure your virtual machine is booted.
Try the javascript telnet interface, which should work over anything.
ssh is the most efficient way to connect... use putty (google it) and connect to linuxzoo.net once vm is booted.
telnet is common but many local policies now block this port.

hope that helps.
Gordon.

I am now assuming you mean that the javascript telnet interface stopped working.
Yes it had crashed. It is not a good way of connecting. Much better is to use putty.exe (google it) and ssh to linuxzoo.net
The javascript interface works in many strange network situations, which is why it is there.
However it has some sort of bug in it and it crashes every few weeks.
I dont use this part of the system much myself, so I rarely notice when it needs restarted.

Should be working again now (for a while at least).
Gordon.
